This collection of stories has a beautiful family history that had me itching to do the work from the moment I heard it. The author, Gretchen, had already engaged an illustrator and had some preliminary drawings to flesh out the brief, however, the initial designs were conceived using positional art and the ‘vibe’ of the overall look. The illustrator had to pull out mid-project and I then worked with Gretchen to find a new illustrator who would be able to work in a similar vein. We were lucky enough to get Simon Howe involved and he more than lived up to our hopes. The illustrations are just gorgeous and all three of us are very pleased with the end result.
